About Us |
UWCameraStuff.com has been launched to share custom-designed products that enhance currently-available underwater camera equipment. All of the offered items have been created to fulfill a specific need identified by me or others in the community of underwater photographers. Some of the items may be used with any brand of equipment while others are specific to ikelite housings and ports. More products will be added as needs are identified and solutions are developed.
The products offered by UnderWater Camera Stuff have been designed and engineered by me, Bill Libecap, or my associates. By training and employment, I am a computer consultant and network engineer. After being downsized a number of years ago, I went into the computer support business for myself. My customers enjoy excellent service and creative solutions to their needs.
Troubleshooting and problem solving are fun activities for me and are fueled by my more-than-healthy level of curiosity. While unattended at the age of four, I took apart my Grandmother’s clock to see how it worked. Unfortunately for Grandma, my skill-set did not yet include reassembly knowledge and none of the adults could put it back together.
During high school, I took every shop class offered including Advanced Metals and Advanced Woodworking. I continually improved my DIY skills by servicing the motorcycles I raced and/or rode for pleasure; by repairing/rebuilding cars; and building CB radios so I could talk with strangers around the country. During my service with Uncle Sam, I got to fix radio transmitters and monitor/facilitate communications in the Mediterranean while sitting on a mountain in Africa. This is when I got involved in photography as I had time on my hands and access to a darkroom for film and slide developing. No matter what type of project I’ve undertaken, I create ways to accomplish tasks using the least amount of effort and ensuring a high level of quality.
The addition of scuba diving to my life has given me many more opportunities to create a drysuit dryer, shelves for the side of the van to aid in gearing up for cave diving, just to name a few. My longstanding interest in photography naturally morphed from topside to underwater. The underwater world has maintained my attention for more than ten years. The challenge of getting an award-winning photo is a great motivator. I continually seek ways to improve my equipment and create solutions for identified shortcomings/problems.
I thought it was time to share my inventions with other underwater photographers which is why UWCameraStuff.com was launched. I am really good at troubleshooting and resolving problems plus I have experience working with a wide variety of materials. Browse the products we currently have available and let me know if you’ve identified an equipment challenge for which you’ve been unable to find an existing solution. Your problem may become my next project!
